India Vs Netherlands T20 World Cup: All You Need To Know

The Indian cricket team has already reached Sydney for the match.

‘The Men in Blue’ look to repeat their Pakistan match performance as they take on the Netherlands in the second match of the ICC T20 World Cup at the Sydney Cricket Ground on Thursday, October 27.

Led by skipper Rohit Sharma, the team has already reached Sydney and some players attended an optional practice session amid light rainfall in the city on Tuesday. Captain Sharma, vice-captain KL Rahul, and Virat Kohli were seen sweating out in the nets.

The weather in Sydney is expected to be better when India play the Netherlands on Thursday. The city sky is expected to be cloudy but it won’t rain during the day, reported local media, citing the Australian meteorological department. The temperature is expected to be around 24 degrees Celsius during the match.

The pitch at the Sydney Cricket Ground will be favourable for batsmen. So runs can come in a flurry. As per a local report, it will open up as the match progresses and hence will favour the team which gets to bat later.

Team India’s Sydney visit is already in the headlines for some wrong reasons. Some of the Indian players have criticised the International Cricket Council (ICC) for bad arrangements, especially the non-availability of hot food after the practice session. It is pertinent to mention that the world cup is organised by the ICC and all the arrangements are done by them.

Some players skipped the cold meal and instead chose to have it at their hotel.

Reacting to the complaint, a BCCI official has said: “The problem is that the ICC isn’t providing any hot food after lunch. In a bilateral series, the host association is in charge of catering and they always provide hot Indian meals after a training session. But for ICC, the rule is the same for all countries.”

“It’s not like any boycott… Some players did pick up fruits and falafel but everyone wanted to have lunch and hence they had food going back to the hotel,” a BCCI official privy to the development told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

For the uninitiated, India defeated Pakistan in their opening match on October 23, with Virat Kohli pulling off a splendid show in the run-chase. They defeated their arch-rivals by 4 wickets on the last ball of the match.
