India has a long-standing history of active involvement in UN peacekeeping. Since 1950 to May 2023, it has contributed over 275,000 troops, making it one of the largest contributors to UN peacekeeping forces. Currently, around 5,900 Indian personnel are deployed in 12 UN missions worldwide.
This training capsule marks a significant step in Indiaโs efforts to build capacity among partner nations. It aligns with Indiaโs broader strategy of fostering regional stability and strengthening diplomatic ties. The program also emphasized the core principles of UN peacekeeping, including impartiality, the non-use of force except in self-defence, and the protection of civilians.

In addition to tactical and operational training, the course highlighted the importance of integrating women into peacekeeping missions. Indiaโs Female Engagement Teams, deployed in missions such as MONUSCO (Democratic Republic of the Congo) and UNISFA (Abyei), have been instrumental in promoting gender equality in peacekeeping roles.
Indiaโs proactive approach to training Kyrgyzstanโs armed forces underscores its dedication to global peace and stability. By sharing its expertise and experience, India continues to strengthen its position as a key player in international peacekeeping, fostering collaboration and security across borders.
This initiative enhances the capabilities of the Kyrgyzstan Armed Forces and also reaffirms Indiaโs role as a reliable partner in promoting global harmony and peace.
