NEW DELHI: Naman Mathur, better known as Mortal, has achieved a monumental milestone by winning the Esports Content Creator of the Year award at the Esports Awards 2024. The prestigious ceremony, held in Los Angeles, California, brought together the brightest talents in global esports. Mortal’s win not only marks a personal triumph but also highlights the growing prominence of Indian gaming on the world stage.

 

Mortal’s journey in esports began in 2018 when he entered the scene with PUBG Mobile. His skill and dedication quickly propelled him to the forefront of the Indian gaming community. He earned widespread recognition after clinching major titles like the PUBG Mobile Club Open (PMCO) Spring Split India in 2019. Later, his winning streak continued with victories in the BGMI Pro Series Season 1 and the Pro Warrior Cup Conquest Round in 2022.

In 2021, Mortal retired from competitive gaming and shifted his focus to content creation. This decision proved transformative, as he captivated millions of fans with his engaging streams and videos. Upon receiving the award, Mortal expressed his emotions with heartfelt words. “Lost at words. Just an ocean full of feelings. The #2 curse has been broken. I was planning to try to break it in 2025, but now this happened. It’s always great to put our Indian flag on any stage whenever possible.” His humility and pride resonated deeply with his fans and peers.

The award was accepted on his behalf by Animesh Aggarwal, also known as Thug, who highlighted the significance of this achievement. “The first time could have been lucky, the second time was a charm, and the third time firmly means that the best content group in India is the best in the world. This award belongs to our entire team of S8UL, whose belief in our vision and relentless contributions have made this achievement possible,” he said.

 

Beyond his competitive success and content creation, Mortal is also known for his philanthropic efforts. In a notable gesture, he donated his tournament winnings to the Indian Army, earning him immense respect and admiration.
