India Mobile Congress 2024: Eighth Edition theme launch unveiled in New Delhi

The event is jointly organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India.

NEW DELHI: The India Mobile Congress (IMC), touted as Asia’s largest digital technology forum, unveiled its 2024 theme at a launch event held on Thursday, 18 July 2024, at the Oberoi Hotel in New Delhi. The forum aims to be the “leading platform for India’s start-up and technology ecosystem.” The event is jointly organized by the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) of the Government of India.

The launch event included the prestigious Conferring of Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya Telecom Excellence Awards, recognizing distinguished contributions in various technological fields. This year’s IMC theme focuses on innovation, industry leadership, and global tech engagement, promising a significant impact on innovators, industry leaders, and tech enthusiasts worldwide.

The event saw the presence of notable dignitaries, including Jyotiraditya M Scindia, Minister for Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. Dr Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, Hon’ble Minister of State for Communications and Rural Development, attended as the Guest of Honour, and Dr Neeraj Mittal, IAS, Chairman DCC & Secretary(T), Department of Telecommunications (DoT), MoC, was the Distinguished Guest.

In his address, Dr Mittal highlighted India’s pioneering role in the global digital landscape. “India has taken the leadership role, and with the launch of WTCL this year, it will bring more people into the fold,” he stated, emphasizing the transformative potential of this year’s theme. Dr. Mittal also underscored the opportunities for newcomers, startups, and MSMEs, noting that they would receive invaluable guidance from established industrial leaders. “Their role will play as a double-edged weapon,” he remarked, reflecting on the dual benefits of innovation and mentorship fostered by IMC.

The IMC-2024 promises to be a landmark event, fostering collaboration and showcasing advancements in telecommunications and digital technologies. The forum is expected to draw significant participation from global tech leaders, policymakers, and innovators, further solidifying India’s position as a hub for technological excellence.
