NEW DELHI: Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai announced the launch of Gemini’s India app on X (formerly Twitter), stating, “Exciting news! Today, we’re introducing the Gemini mobile app in India, offering it in English and 9 Indian languages. We’re also including these local languages in Gemini Advanced, along with new features, and launching Gemini in Google Messages in English.”

Google has now released the Gemini app in India, supporting nine Indian languages. Previously available only in English, the AI chatbot now allows users to type or speak in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

To get Gemini on Android, download the app from the Play Store or activate it through Google Assistant. For iOS users, Gemini will be available through the Google app soon. Just like Google’s previous voice assistant, summon Gemini by saying ‘Hey Google.’

Similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, the Gemini app assists in drafting messages, writing emails, analyzing images, uploading files, and answering questions. It can also search the internet and is integrated with Google services like Gmail and Maps.

The free-to-use AI chatbot, powered by Gemini 1.0 Pro, has a paid option called Gemini Advanced. This upgraded version, based on Gemini 1.5 Pro, features an advanced large language model with a 1 million token context window.
