NEW DELHI: The Moscow delegations participated in the II Smart Cities Forum: Russian-Indian Interregional Cooperation to highlight key initiatives aimed at creating a comfortable urban environment, as well as opportunities for international partners.

The event was led by Sergey Cheremin, Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department for External Economic and International Relations of Moscow, and Chairman of the Business Council for Cooperation with India.

Divesh, a representative of the Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India, said, โ€œIndia is leading in Silicon Valley. Our IT specialists are among the best in the world. If someone says Russia launched a missile, people believe it because itโ€™s their expertise. Similarly, Indiaโ€™s strengths are IT and pharma. People have a lot of hope from India.โ€

He believes that with the right efforts, India can make a global impact. โ€œIndian IT specialists are among the best in the world. We can achieve something miraculous,โ€ he said.

An Indian entrepreneur in Russia has established multiple businesses in the country and is now working on a major pharmaceutical project. โ€œWe have three to four companies in Russia. One of them is Saffarm. Through this company, we are building a pharmaceutical plant in Murmansk,โ€ he said. Murmansk is a city near the North Pole, known for its extreme daylight conditions.

Divesh revealed that the project is a significant investment. โ€œWe are building a factory with an investment of $120 million. The plant will produce oncology products, hormonal medicines, HIV medicines, general medicines, and APIs.โ€

The process is already underway, and the company plans to start operations in 2027.

Apart from this, Divesh runs a distribution company in Moscow. โ€œWe import and sell veterinary medicines and human products like cosmetics and ayurvedic items,โ€ he shared. He also owns a consulting company that helps Indian and European firms with plant approvals, GMP certifications, and product registrations.

When asked if he plans to expand his business to India, Divesh confirmed: โ€œYes, that is very true. We are in touch with Invest India. We are trying to bring projects like R&D centers and IT initiatives from Russia to India. Discussions are already in progress.โ€
