In photos: Joe Biden’s Diwali Bash

Have you seen the absolutely stunning Diwali celebration photos that came out of White House last night? From flute to Indian string instruments every moment of the biggest Diwali bash in the United States was a celebration of Indian culture.

 

“Diwali is a reminder that each of us has the power to dispel darkness and bring light to the world. It was my pleasure to celebrate this joyous occasion at the White House today,” said  Biden in his address to the Indian community in America. Biden thanked the Asian American community in the US for making the Diwali celebration a joyous part of American culture.

Vice President Kamala Harris shared a video snippet of the celebrations on Twitter.

200 eminent members of the community were present at the White House Celebrations.

In what turned out to be the highlight of the night, Biden invited two children onto the stage and described them as “his impression of light”.  Later, the White House informed the little ones named Soren and Zara were the children of Congressman Ro Khanna.

Later he tweeted: ” Ritu (his wife) and I were touched that@POTUS invited our children to join him on stage during the historic Diwali celebration at the White House. It’s a testament to this President’s belief in the future.

While referring to a banter at the meet President had remarked that both him and Khanna had married beyond their station. “The President was right. I did marry up and the kids are our light,” Khanna wrote in his tweet.

White House on Monday hosted the biggest Diwali reception ever on Monday which also saw the presence of several Indian Americans from the Biden administration.
