IM founder’s brother-in-law probed for gold smuggling terror funding

NEW DELHI: Is Kaku Toufiq, the brother-in-law of the Bhatkal brothers, the founders of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), a terrorist organization, smuggling gold to fund terrorist activities? The Special Cell of the Delhi Police is trying to find out the answer to this question. Kaku Toufiq and his aide, Hayyan Kola, were apprehended by customs officials in connection with a gold smuggling case. However, it was revealed that this wasn’t merely a case of gold smuggling, but rather a case of funding terrorist activities through such means.

The matter was then handed over to the IGI Police, who lodged an FIR under various sections of the IPC and initiated an investigation. “Both the accused were found in possession of fake driving licenses. Additionally, they were found to be in contact with individuals based in Pakistan and Dubai,” the source said.

The probe which has revealed shocking facts

The matter was eventually transferred to the Special Cell, which dispatched a team to Karnataka. Furthermore, the Cell discovered that Kaku’s wife is a cousin of Riyaz Bhatkal, Iqbal Bhatkal, and Yasin Bhatkal, the founders of the Indian Mujahideen (IM), a terrorist organization. The source revealed that their associate, Abdul Kader, who resides in Mumbai, is currently evading authorities. The Police also uncovered their communication with Washiq, who departed India 18 years ago and was involved in cross-border terror-related activities.

“They have been involved in gold smuggling for a considerable period. It’s evident that they have also been engaged in terrorist activities. Given Kaku’s relationship as the brother-in-law of Yasin Bhatkal, we are treating this matter with utmost seriousness,” stated the source.
