Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal says Excise Policy increased revenue in Punjab
A day after he was summoned to appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the Delhi Excise Policy case, the Delhi Chief minister came out all guns blazing against the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led central government.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor, who is also the face of the party, says that the central agencies found nothing against the party’s much-vilified and now scrapped Delhi Excise Policy case despite trying every trick to frame party leaders.
CM Kejriwal also said that the very same policy that has been scrapped in Delhi is earning the AAP government in Punjab additional revenues.
While saying that he will respect the summons and go to the central investigation agency on April 16, Kejriwal attacked PM Narendra Modi, saying, “If Kejriwal is corrupt, then there is no honest person in this world.”
Taking a potshot at the central investigation agencies, CM Kejriwal said, “India’s top investigation agencies are investigating the allegations of corruption in the liquor scam. I am sure they must have found something.”
“I just want to know what they have found after investigating for a year now. They have already arrested Manish Sisodia and Satyendra Jain. They have searched Sisodia’s house, his ancestral home, and the homes of his relatives, I want to know what they found,” CM Kejriwal said.
Terming that the whole investigation is a plot to target AAP, CM Kejriwal said, “They have found nothing so far. They have alleged we have taken ₹100 crores in bribes. And after a year of investigating, they have not found a single paise of the alleged corrupt money.”
“They alleged that AAP used money from liquor scams to fund its campaign in the Goa election. They have interrogated our vendors. They did not find anything. All our expenses are documented and updated with the Election Commission of India,” CM Kejriwal added.
CM Kejriwal once again documented how the investigation agencies threatened and tortured suspects into submission. He also said that not only the suspects but their families were threatened.
“In the case of one of the accused, ED said that we will see how your (young) daughters go to college,” CM Kejriwal alleged while showing court documents where many of the suspects had retracted their statements, citing they were made under duress.
CM Kejriwal also documented the physical torture, in one case, the accused suffered hearing loss following damage to the eardrum, which they had to endure when they were asked to make false statements implicating AAP leaders.
