As the ICC T20 World Cup nears, teams look to build a balanced playing XI that will help them in the long run to clinch the coveted title. Team Australia are the defending champions who will be keen to retain the title at home but face stiff competition from the likes of England, India, New Zealand and Pakistan to name a few.

While teams will look to strike the perfect balance in the batting and bowling departments, it is the fielding and wicketkeeping that change the complexion of the game at a given point. A wicketkeeper is one who is an exceptional observer and the most attentive during the entire match.

In the marquee tournament, wicketkeepers have made their mark by shifting the momentum on their side and helping the side win the matches on certain occasions. A strong keeper behind the wickets can be the differentiating factor between a win and a loss. Former India wicketkeeper captain MS Dhoni holds the record for the most dismissals in the T20 World Cup.

The former India keeper has been very effective behind the stumps and eventually became one of the most important cogs in India’s wheel. Dhoni is known for his lightning-fast hands behind the wickets, and unsurprisingly, he tops the charts for the most dismissals.

Along with the likes of the former India player, there have been others who have etched their names in history. Pakistan’s Kamran Akmal and Sri Lanka’s Kumar Sangakkara are some of the former players who were very comfortable behind the stumps and helped bowlers scalp wickets with ease.
