Saw White House from outside 30 years ago, first time inside it in front of Indian diaspora: Modi

PM Modi recognized the influential role played by the Indian diaspora in enhancing India’s reputation through their hard work and dedication.

WASHINGTON, D.C: In an emotional address to the Indian diaspora on Wednesday from the lawns of the White House Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to US President Joe Biden for throwing open the premises of his official residence for his mega diaspora outreach honouring their contribution in the growth story of America.  “I have visited the White House many times after becoming the PM. This is the first time the gates of the White House have been opened for the Indian-American community in such large numbers,” said Prime Minister Modi.

PM Modi recognized the influential role played by the Indian diaspora in enhancing India’s reputation through their hard work and dedication. He emphasized their vital contribution as the real strength of the India-US relationship and expressed heartfelt appreciation to President Joe Biden and Dr. Jill Biden for honoring them with this special gathering. “People of the Indian community are enhancing India’s glory in the US through their hard work and dedication. You are the real strength of our relationship. I thank President Biden and Dr Jill Biden for giving this honour to them,” he said.

This occasion marked a significant milestone for both nations, symbolizing the deepening bond between India and the United States.

Drawing on the commonality of the two countries, the PM said, “Both our countries are proud of our diversity. We believe in sarva jana hitaye, sarva jana sukhaye. Our constitution begins with the phrase ‘we the people’.”

The visit holds immense importance for India, as its geopolitical standing is at an all-time high. PM Modi aims to leverage this position to foster a closer partnership with the US, particularly in the areas of technological advancement and innovation.

Recent announcements of investments by companies like Micron Technology and Applied Materials in India’s semiconductor industry further underline the growing collaboration between the two nations.

Prime Minister Modi also conveyed his appreciation for the positive and constructive discussions held with President Biden, touching upon regional, global, and bilateral issues.
