When I saw the results at 7 am in the morning I was elated. My parents congratulated me. And I celebrated the day in Allen with my parents and classmates, says Mrunal.
JEE MAIN 2023 topper: Mrunal Shrikant Vairagade hails from Nagpur, Maharashtra and is preparing for JEE Advance. He got an All India Rank 3 in JEE Main April session. Mrunal has been a regular classroom student of Allen Career Institute Private Limited for the past two years. He studies 8-12 hours daily and divides this time equally between all subjects Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
The most challenging for Mrunal was Physics. “When I was in Class XI I was not good at Physics. But when I joined Allen, Dharampet, I understood my weakness was time management. I used to sit on one question till I found the answer. But Allen taught me to try for only 3-4 minutes and or go to the next question and come back to it if there’s time.”
Allen Career Institute Private Limited takes daily classes for IIT aspirants who want to crack JEE Advance. Monday to Saturday is preparation and on Sundays there is a six-hour exam. Allen follows the JEE Advance pattern and takes mock exams regularly for students.
“Doing homework in a time-bound manner is key”, says Mrunal. “If we don’t do that we can never attempt the exam expeditiously.”
“Allen also taught me how to read notes for revision. In Maths and Physics, the idea is to solve all questions during homework. For Chemistry, deep reading is enough,” says Mrunal.
“For JEE Main, I primarily focused on the NCERT syllabus. I did a basic revision of notes at the last moment. The graph of marks in weekly tests fluctuated, but I always tried my best. After every test, I analysed my performance and identified the mistakes that caused me to lose marks. In the next test, I tried not to repeat those mistakes. I am striving for under rank 50 in JEE Advanced,” says Mrunal.
Mrunal achieved a 100 percentile with 300 out of 300 marks in the JEE Main April session. He secured All India Rank 3. He scored 98.4 per cent in the 10th grade. Mrunal also performed splendidly in JEE Main January 2023 session with a score of 99.96 percentile. He has also qualified for NTSE, RMO, and Chemistry Olympiad (INCHO).
Mrunal has done his Class 12 from Seva Sadan and is currently preparing for JEE Advance scheduled for June this year. Mrunal wants to join IIT Bombay for Computer Science Engineering.
Mrunal’s mother Sandhya Vairagade, a homemaker, says, parents should not put pressure on their children if they are not getting expected marks. “It’s important to remember there are other scopes children can excel in.”
“Parents need to support their children when they are working hard. And it’s important to believe in them. I feel proud that my son has done so well.”
Mrunal’s father owns a business of decoration materials in Nagpur.
