NEW DELHI: Legendary singer Hariharan was moved to tears of happiness when he saw the idol of Ram Lalla in the sanctum sanctorum of the Ram temple on the grand celebration of the consecration ceremony on January 22.
The New Indian’s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, who was officially invited to the event, spoke to Hariharan who has sung iconic melodies of hit movies like ‘Taal’, ‘Bombay’, ‘Roja’, and several others.
“I started crying when I saw Lord Ram. I was so happy. The idol is so beautiful. By seeing Ram Lalla, I could also see Lord Venkateswara and Lord Krishna, it’s a very unfathomable experience. I am taking happiness and love with me from Ayodhya, back to Mumbai,” he said while expressing his ardent devotion to the supreme power.
The ceremony, which was performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, saw a huge turnout of devotees coming from diverse backgrounds including actors, business tycoons, singers, saints and industrialists. In preparation for the ceremony rituals, PM Modi kept fast and observed the required holy practices as written in the Vedic texts from January 12 onwards till the consecration of the idols at the Ram temple in Ayodhya was done.
He further said, “He was asked to keep fast for one day by the saints but he did it for 11 days. You can see for yourself what kind of a Prime Minister he is, one who leads by example.”
On being asked the secret of being humble and austere despite achieving so many milestones in life, Hariharan told TNI, “By bowing down before God and staying humble, you reach even greater heights in life.”
