NEW DELHI: Politics in Delhi has taken a unique turn ahead of Lok Sabha elections, Mahabal Mishra, former West Delhi MP from INC is fighting his candidature from  AAP which he joined in November 2022. Sunita Kejriwal has come out to support him by holding a rally in West Delhi.

Speaking at the rally on Sunday, Mishra expressed confidence in AAP’s growing popularity, and told The New Indian, “The people of Delhi are in the mood to vote for AAP, and they have decided to take revenge for injustices with their votes.” Mishra, who previously served as an MLA three times on the Congress ticket, emphasised the widespread support for AAP.

Responding to queries about the possibility of Sunita Kejriwal being appointed as Chief Minister, Mishra deferred to the party’s decision, noting, “We see Sunita at the rally because there is a huge wave of sympathy for AAP after CM Kejriwal’s arrest.” He further criticises the treatment of those who prioritise helping the poor versus those who cater to the wealthy.

He said, “One who helps the poor is told that they are distributing ‘revdi,’ and one who forgives the loans of the rich is sent abroad.” Addressing recent controversies, Mishra dismissed queries regarding Amrinder Lovely’s resignation, he said, “I don’t have any information about that”
