NEW DELHI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has extended his support to BJP workers in Jharkhand following the party’s defeat in the state assembly elections while highlighting concerns about infiltration in the region.
In a video message shared on social media, Sarma reassured party workers of his continued support. “This friend from Assam will always stand with you. The safety and morale of our workers in Jharkhand remain a top priority,” he said.
Sarma, who played a key role as the BJP’s in-charge during the four-month campaign, acknowledged the defeat but emphasized its role in future victories. “While we couldn’t achieve our goal this time, setbacks today are the stepping stones for success tomorrow,” he remarked.

The Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led alliance secured a decisive victory, with JMM winning 34 seats and Congress securing 16. In contrast, the BJP won 21 seats, while its allies AJSUP, JD(U), and LJP (Ram Vilas) managed one seat each.
Raising a key political issue, Sarma called for urgent action on alleged infiltration in the state. “The problem of infiltrators poses a significant challenge to Jharkhand. I urge the state government to take this issue seriously and fulfill its constitutional responsibility,” he stated, assuring that BJP will persistently raise this concern in the Assembly.
Concluding his message on a heartfelt note, Sarma thanked BJP workers for their dedication and the people of Jharkhand for their support. “Your affection will always hold a special place in my heart. If you ever visit Assam, know that you have a friend waiting here for you,” he said.
