Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed rally in Sundar Nagar town of Mandi district today in his campaign for the BJP in the Himachal Pradesh assembly polls which is scheduled for November 12.
In his address he told the people of Himachal that votes cast on 12th November this time are special, “The Himachal polls this time are special because the votes cast on November 12 will not only decide future development of state for coming five years but every vote will define it’s development journey for next 25 years.” Adding that people of Himachal Pradesh have made up their mind to retain the BJP in power, he said, “People know that BJP means stability, ‘Sewa Bhaav’ service, ‘Sam-Bhaav’ (Equanimity) and priority to development. People of Himachal have decided to form BJP government again.”
PM Modi condoled the death of India’s first voter 106 year old Shyam Saran Negi and hailed his commitment towards his duty and outlook towards democracy. “I got to know about the death of Shyam Saran Negi, he voted more than 30 times and even before his demise he discharged his duties and casted his vote through postal ballot for Himachal Pradesh assembly elections,” he said.
PM Modi also attacked Congress saying India’s first scam done in defence sector was by Congress who in every deal wanted commission and that led to delay in procurement of weapons for the armed forces. “After independence, the first scam of the country was done by the Congress in defence sector. Since then, till the Congress government was in place, it took a lot of brokerage in defence deals. Congress never wanted the country to become self-reliant in terms of defence equipment. It wanted a commission in every defence deal and wanted to fill its own leaders’ treasure. This is why the procurement of weapons was delayed, Congress is not only against National Security but also Nation’s Development. ” Adding that making “false promises” and giving “false guarantees” is an old trick of the Congress.
Mandi is home district of current Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur. PM Modi pointed, “A few weeks ago India completed 75 years of Independence, closer to that, Himachal Pradesh will also complete 100 years of its formation. Therefore, the next 25 years are crucial.”
Himachal goes to polls on November 12. The elections for all 68 assembly seats will be carried out in a single phase.
