NEW DELHI: The final phase of the Jharkhand Assembly elections concluded successfully, registering an impressive voter turnout of 61.47% by 3 PM. This decisive phase will shape the state’s political landscape, with employment, corruption, and governance as central campaign themes.
Kalpana Soren, JMM candidate from Gandey and wife of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who voted from her constituency during first phase has expressed confidence in the Mahagathbandhan’s victory on final election day. She highlighted the public’s trust in Hemant Soren’s government and its developmental initiatives.
On the other side, Union Minister and BJP’s Jharkhand election in-charge, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, stressed the importance of these elections, labeling them crucial for the state’s future. He criticized the JMM-Congress alliance for failing on key issues such as unemployment, women’s safety, law and order, and corruption.
Chouhan rallied voters to support the BJP-NDA, pledging to build a “prosperous, safe, and corruption-free Jharkhand.” “The BJP-NDA government will transform the state and change the fate of its people,” he stated confidently.
Polling was conducted smoothly across 14,218 booths in 12 districts, with the Election Commission implementing measures to ensure fairness. At 1 PM, 47.92% of eligible voters had already exercised their franchise, reflecting significant public participation.
This phase covers 38 Assembly seats, with results scheduled for November 23. The contest between the BJP-led NDA and the Mahagathbandhan has captured public attention, with both sides presenting starkly different visions for the state’s future.
The BJP has positioned itself as the party of reform, aiming to leverage dissatisfaction with the current administration. Meanwhile, the Mahagathbandhan banks on its governance record and promises of inclusive development.
With polling now complete, Jharkhand awaits the results on November 23 that will determine its political course and address the pressing concerns of its citizens.
