These incidents follow closely on the heels of a deadly mass shooting in Maine, which claimed one life and injured 25 others. In 2023, the US has seen a staggering 579 mass shootings, highlighting the urgent need for comprehensive gun violence prevention measures.

According to data from the Gun Violence Archive, this year alone, at least 15,704 individuals in the US have lost their lives to gun violence, and nearly 31,000 more have suffered non-fatal gunshot injuries. Between Friday and Sundaythe Gun Violence Archive reported at least 12 mass shootings.

Tragically, this includes 1,421 children. These alarming statistics underscore the devastating toll that gun violence continues to exact on American communities. Despite the persistent and pervasive threat of gun violence, comprehensive gun control measures have been slow to materialise.
