NEW DELHI: Norwegian sensation Erling Haaland has revealed his ambition to achieve a historic treble with Manchester City, citing it as his “biggest dream.”

As Pep Guardiola’s side prepares to face Manchester United in the FA Cup final and Inter Milan in the Champions League final, Haaland hopes to contribute towards securing the coveted European title.

Having clinched their fifth Premier League crown in six seasons, City’s quest for European glory remains unfulfilled. Reflecting on his aspirations, Haaland expressed to BBC Sport, “It would be unreal to make this history. This is why they bought me, of course, to get this, we don’t have to hide that. It would mean everything. I will do everything I possibly can to try to make it happen. It’s my biggest dream, and hopefully, dreams do come true.”

However, the 22-year-old striker acknowledged the challenges posed by both Manchester United and Inter Milan. He warned that both teams would be highly motivated to “destroy” City’s treble ambitions. Haaland recognised the immense task ahead, stating, “It’s two finals against two good teams that will do everything they can to try to destroy that.”

Since his arrival in the Premier League, Haaland has taken the football world by storm, rewriting records in his first season. He has notched an astonishing 36 goals in the top flight and an impressive 52 across all competitions. His remarkable performances earned him the distinction of becoming the first player to win both the Premier League Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards in the same season. Additionally, he was honoured as the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Men’s Footballer of the Year.

Reflecting on his journey in English football, Haaland emphasised the transformative impact it has had on his life. Despite the attention he receives due to his towering stature and signature blond hair, he remains grounded and seeks solace in the company of loved ones.

Haaland stated, “There’s nothing I can do, that’s my life. I just have to try to enjoy it as much as I can. Try to relax when I’m home with good people around me, that’s really important. Just try to enjoy my life.”

Looking ahead, Haaland recognises the importance of continued development in his career. At 22 years old, he believes he still has ample time to grow and evolve as a player. He remains focused on the future, contemplating his next move and eager to maximise his potential.
