NEW DELHI: The book โGurjari Lok Geetโ by Sugandha Nagar Trivedi was launched at a special event. The occasion was graced by Prof. Ramesh Chand, Member, NITI Aayog, and Surendra Singh Nagar, MP, Rajya Sabha. Sugandha Nagar Trivedi, author of Gurjari Lok Geet, shared insights into her work. She highlighted its role in preserving traditional folk music from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana. She stressed that folk songs are fading due to modern film music.

Born in 1988, Sugandha Nagar Trivedi is a communication and social development expert. A University of Delhi graduate, she holds dual postgraduates in Mass Communication and Sociology from Jamia Millia Islamia.
MP Surendra Singh Nagar praised her dedication. He said, โThis book is a valuable contribution to Indiaโs cultural heritage.โ
Prof. Ramesh Chand observed, โLok Geet is mostly composed by women, while men primarily sing them. They only sing โGeetโ.โ He lauded the author for compiling 85 Lok Geet with Hindi translations.

Born in 1988, Sugandha Nagar Trivedi is a communication and social development expert. A University of Delhi graduate, she holds dual postgraduates in Mass Communication and Sociology from Jamia Millia Islamia.
Her career spans work with UNDP, NITI Aayog, the Election Commission of India, and All India Radio. She is a regular writer on social issues, contributing to publications like Belief in the Ballot. Her efforts earned her the Woman Achievers Award (2022) and recognition from the National Health Ministry for her role in the COVID-19 vaccination campaign.

Gurjari Lok Geet is a collection of folk songs from the Gurjar community of Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, and Haryana. These songs, passed down orally, depict customs, beliefs, and rural life.
Sung at festivals, marriages, and devotional gatherings, these songs are not credited to any single author but are a shared cultural treasure. This book preserves these traditions for future generations.
Sugandha Nagar Trivedi aims to ensure that Gurjari folk songs remain relevant in todayโs world. โThis book is a step towards keeping our folk traditions alive,โ she said.
