Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja on Sunday appealed to the people of Jamnagar North to support his wife Rivaba Jadeja, who was named the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate from the constituency.

In a major decision, the BJP dropped sitting MLA Dharmendrasinh M Jadeja and decided to pick Rivaba, who is an engineer by qualification.

While Rivaba will file her nomination on November 14, Jadeja appealed to the people of Jamnagar North to be present with him in large numbers. The star cricketer posted a video and appealed to the people of Jamnagar to give support to his wife.

In his video message, Jadeja appealed to the people of Jamnagar and said, “My dear Jamnagar residents and all cricket fans. “As you are all aware, here in Gujarat, assembly elections are moving as quickly as T20 cricket.”

“BJP has made my wife Rivaba a candidate. She is going to file her nomination papers on November 14. So, it is your responsibility to create an atmosphere of victory. So let’s meet tomorrow morning,” he said.

Interestingly, Rivaba’s contesting the election could throw an interesting fight, as Jadeja’s elder sister Naina Jadeja is currently the chief of the Congress party in Jamnagar. Rivaba joined the BJP before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, and shortly after that, Jadeja’s sister Naina joined the Congress.
