NEW DELHI: Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias arrived in India on Tuesday at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar. Foreign Minister Dendias is here on his maiden two-day visit, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) stated.

Apart from a meeting with S Jaishankar, Dendias is scheduled to meet India’s Vice President Venkaiah Naidu on Wednesday. S Jaishankar had visited the Greek capital Athens in June last year, making him the first Indian foreign minister to visit Greece in 18 years. As a result of his visit, Greece became a partner in the International Solar Alliance.

Dendias’ visit to India is being seen as diplomatically vital as the exchange of visits will consolidate and further strengthen the multifaceted relationship between India and Greece, the MEA said in a release.

The two foreign ministers will take a stock of the developments on the bilateral front. The two leaders are expected to discuss regional as well as transnational affairs of shared interest.
