PATNA: A day after Nitish Kumar resigned as Bihar Chief Minister snapping ties with the BJP, he once again took an oath, along with Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav.
The oath was administered by Governor Phagu Chauhan.
Janata Dal-United leader Kumar left his residence for Raj Bhawan at 1.40 pm. Soon after, RJD leader Tejashwi too left for the swearing-in ceremony.
Besides Tejashwi, his mother and former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, his wife Raechel aka Rajshree and his elder brother Tej Pratap Yadav also went along with him.
The RJD has joined hands with the JD-U for the second time after the latter had severed ties with it in 2017, just two years after stitching the Grand Alliance in 2015 assembly elections.
After the JD-U parted ways with the Grand Alliance, it joined hands with the BJP.
The JD-U has been in NDA Alliance in Bihar since 2005 and had for the first time snapped its ties in 2012. The BJP was decimated in 2015 assembly elections.
However, in 2020 assembly elections, the JD-U and the BJP contested as NDA Alliance partners and emerged victorious.
The relation between the JD-U and the BJP turned sour earlier this year. Kumar on Tuesday snapped its ties with the BJP and once again joined hands with the Grand Alliance.
Earlier in the day, the BJP staged protest outside its state headquarters alleging betrayal by Kumar with the people’s mandate.
