Khalistani gangster killed in Canada faces 18 cases in Punjab

New Delhi: Canada-based gangster Sukhdool Singh Gill, alias Sukha Duneke, who was shot dead in Canada yesterday has 18 cases registered against him under various sections of Indian Penal Code (IPC) in Punjab.

Meanwhile, Lawrence Bishnoi, another Khalistani terrorist, claimed the killing of Duneke. He posted regarding the killing on Facebook and called Duneke a ‘drug addict’.

The gangster was an associate of Devinder Bambiha gang of Punjab has 18 cases against him in which he has been acquitted in some cases while some are under investigation. He had fled to Canada in 2017 after procuring a fake passport.

The killing took place barely 24 hours after NIA released a detailed list of 43 gangsters that featured Duneke at No. 33 position.

This comes amid tensions have heightened between India and Canada over Trudeau’s remark that accused India of being involved in the killing of the most wanted Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.

Delhi had, in a response, called the allegations ‘absurd’ and asked Canada ‘to take prompt and effective legal action against all anti-India elements operating from their soil.’

Section 452, 109, 307 and 149 are some of the charges of the IPC registered against him. One of his FIR was also quashed.

Duneke had organized a crime network in Punjab while sitting abroad through cross-border funding and extortion. Along with Goldy Brar and Arsh Dala from Punjab’s south Malwa region, Duneke had become an intimidating force while running an organized crime network in Punjab.
