NEW DELHI: Gangster Maninder Dhaliwal and his friend Satinder Gill were killed in a shootout that resulted from a gang war in Vancouver, Canada, according to a report.
According to the news report, Dhaliwal belonged to the Brothers Keepers gang. However, Gill was not associated with any of the gangs.
The incident came within a week of the brutal murder of Ripudaman Singh Malik. Malik, who was acquitted of murder and conspiracy charges in 2005 in relation to the bombing of an Air India flight in 1985, was shot dead on July 14 in Surrey, British Columbia.
According to Intelligence sources, Dhaliwal lost his elder brother, Harb, to a targeted hit in Vancouver’s Coal Harbour on April 17, 2021.
The gangsters based in Canada have been often linked to ordering killings in India.
Earlier this year, Goldy Brar, a Canada-based gangster and a close aide of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi, claimed responsibility for the killing of popular Punjabi singer and Congress leader Sidhu Moosewala.
Last week, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a cash reward of Rs 10 lakh on the fugitive terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar in the conspiracy hatched by Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) operating under him to kill a Hindu priest at Jalandhar.
The NIA said that the agency has announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Nijjar who is presently residing in Canada and is the Chief of Khalistan Tiger Force (KTF) and is a permanent resident of Jalandhar in Punjab.
