“Contact with terrorists was established around 9 pm, resulting in an intense firefight. Initial reports indicate injuries to our brave soldiers,” the Army posted on X Monday night.

Witnesses reported that the terrorists attempted to flee following a gunfight. The security personnel pursued terrorists through challenging terrain and dense vegetation, resulting in another clash in the forest around 9 pm on Monday.

This was the second significant encounter in the Jammu region after five soldiers were killed in action in Kathua the previous week. This is also the third such incident since Modi 3.0.

The encounter, which also injured five soldiers, was a coordinated attack on two trucks carrying at least 12 troops. Terrorists targeted the trucks, which were approximately 500 meters apart, with grenades and, alarmingly, utilized armour-piercing bullets (tipped with hardened steel) and an M4 assault rifle.

The Kathua attack followed dual encounters in the Kulgam district of Kashmir, resulting in the deaths of six terrorists and two soldiers this month.

On June 9, terrorists targeted a pilgrimage bus in Reasi, causing nine fatalities and injuring 42 others.

Three terrorists were killed after a shootout erupted between terrorists and security personnel in the Gandoh region of Doda district on June 26.

Earlier in the day, Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered old-rusted arms and ammunition from a terrorist hideout in Reasi district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The recovery items include 30 rounds of AK-47, one magazine of AK-47 rifle, and one HE-36 hand grenade, as per the officials.

Terrorist attacks, which began in the Poonch and Rajouri districts, have now spread across Jammu, a region that was free from such violence until a few years ago.

Over the past 32 months, 48 soldiers have been killed in action in the Jammu region.

Reports suggest that over 60 foreign terrorists, trained in jungle warfare, may be operating in the Jammu region alone, spreading fear across all 10 districts of the province.
