NEW DELHI: Formula 1 has announced its official support for STEM Racing, the newly rebranded educational programme previously known as F1 in Schools. This change marks a fresh chapter for the initiative as it evolves into an independent non-profit organisation while continuing its mission to inspire the next generation of STEM enthusiasts. With the backing of Formula 1, STEM Racing will further strengthen its global outreach, helping thousands of young students explore potential careers in motorsport through hands-on learning experiences.
The programme targets students aged 6-19, offering them a unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of Formula 1 through STEM-focused activities. Participants work in small teams, taking on various roles such as car design, manufacturing, branding, testing, and team management. This real-world approach gives students a chance to experience the challenges and excitement of running a Formula 1 team while developing critical skills in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Competitions are at the heart of STEM Racing, with teams competing at regional, national, and international levels. The ultimate goal is to reach the prestigious World Finals, where top teams showcase their work. This year, the team “evolut1on” from Germany emerged as champions at the World Finals held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. As part of their reward, they attended the FORMULA 1 QATAR AIRWAYS QATAR GRAND PRIX 2024 at the Lusail International Circuit, getting an exclusive behind-the-scenes experience.
Through this partnership, Formula 1 reaffirms its commitment to creating pathways for young people, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds, into the motorsport industry. STEM Racing’s hands-on approach inspires students by showing them the real-world applications of STEM education while fostering innovation and teamwork. The programme also offers students a chance to visit Formula 1 events globally, allowing them to learn directly from industry professionals and gain invaluable career insights.
