LG Manoj Sinha laid a wreath at J&K Police Memorial in Jammu on Republic Day on January 26.

Summary

J&K administration has received 8400 applications from Kashmiri Pandits whose properties were forcibly occupied during the 1990s.

Security agencies have launched the final assault on terrorism and its eco-system to ensure everlasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir, said Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday.

Addressing a gathering at MA Stadium in Jammu on Republic Day, LG Sinha said that the morale of security forces is high in J&K and all efforts to destabilize the peace are being given a befitting reply.

โ€œSecurity agencies are busy in the last assault on the terror, its ecosystem and its supporters to ensure everlasting peace in the Union Territory,โ€ Sinha said.

He said that the administration and the Centre have taken a series of steps for the welfare of security agencies operating in J&K, informing that his administration received 8400 applications from Kashmiri Pandits, whose land and property were grabbed forcibly in the 1990s.

โ€œThe administration is working to ensure such properties are retrieved and handed over to the Kashmiri Pandits,โ€

He further commented that the situation in J&K is returning to normalcy and the enemyโ€™s evil designs are being foiled. The LG said that the year 2022 saw a 55 per cent decrease in civilian killings and there is a significant dip in the killing of security personnel as well.

LG Sinha also said that a series of development initiatives are going on to push J&K to new heights of achievements. โ€œSrinagar and Jammu will soon have metros, the tubes on the Srinagar-Jammu highway are also being set up on war footing,โ€ he said.

โ€œFor the first time, J&K will have a Women Industrial Estate while promotions of almost 2000 officers that didnโ€™t take place since 2001 are being cleared. The special focus of the administration is on the youth as J&Kโ€™s 70 per cent economy is dependent on agriculture.โ€

โ€œI want to tell those involved in the barbaric killings of innocents at the behest of the neighbouring country that we will avenge every drop of blood and tears. I assure the families who lost their loved ones that the entire nation stands with you and concrete measures will be taken to ensure that the families of our bravehearts live a life of comfort and dignity,โ€ he told the audience.

LG Sinha said that J&K is witnessing an industrial revolution for the first time in the last seven decades of Independence.

โ€œIt has opened up doors of immense possibilities for the new generation. Private investment proposals worth โ‚น66,000 crores have been received within a period of around one year, during which 1455 industrial units started their operations. This is, by far, the biggest industrial campaign in the history of Jammu and Kashmir in a yearโ€, he added.
