JAMMU: Security forces on Sunday evening confiscated a cache of arms and explosives, including three AK-series rifles and over 900 rounds of ammunition, during a cordon and search operation (CASO) in a village in Poonch district.

According to official sources, the seizure took place in Sangla, under the jurisdiction of the Surankote police station, after security personnel launched the operation based on specific intelligence from the area.

Reports indicate that the recovered items include three AK-47 rifles, 23 magazines, 922 live cartridges, two stun grenades, three meters of wire, 19 detonators, a timer-equipped wristwatch, a battery pack along with three connectors, four improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a gas cylinder, five hand grenades, approximately 200 grams of an unidentified white powder, 30 rounds of 9mm ammunition, a safety fuse, a pistol rod, a pistol holster, clothing, footwear, and several other materials.

Authorities are investigating the origin of the recovered weapons and explosives, while heightened security measures have been implemented in the region to prevent any potential threats.
