Flipkart expands operations in UP with two new Fulfillment Centers

These state-of-the-art centres, spanning over 500,000 sq. ft of storage space, were virtually inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.

UTTAR PRADESH: Flipkart, India’s leading e-commerce marketplace, has unveiled the launch of two new Fulfillment Centers (FCs) in Uttar Pradesh. The new facilities include a Fulfillment Center and sortation centre in Unnao, and a sortation centre along with a Grocery Fulfillment Center in Varanasi.

These state-of-the-art centres, spanning over 500,000 sq. ft of storage space, were virtually inaugurated by the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Yogi Adityanath.

The newly opened Fulfillment Centers are set to enhance delivery speeds and operational efficiency across a wide range of PIN codes. The expansion is expected to generate over 3,600 direct and indirect employment opportunities. The Grocery Fulfillment Center in Varanasi and the non-large facility in Unnao will offer a broad selection of products, from local to well-known brands.

During the virtual inauguration, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the positive impact of this expansion on the state’s economic growth. He stated, “Flipkart’s significant investment in Uttar Pradesh is a testament to the state’s rising status as an industrial and entrepreneurial hub. These fulfilment centres are not only creating numerous job opportunities but also supporting the state’s MSME units by giving them access to a nationwide market. The advanced supply chain of Flipkart will greatly benefit millions of customers.”

Rajneesh Kumar, Chief Corporate Affairs Officer at Flipkart Group, echoed these sentiments. He highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s potential for business growth and innovation, citing the state’s leading role in e-commerce adoption and seller empowerment. Kumar added, “Our investments in Uttar Pradesh are aimed at strengthening local communities, MSMEs, farmers, and ancillary businesses by aiding their digital transformation. With a growing network of fulfilment centres, we aim to ensure faster, more reliable deliveries. Our initiatives, including Flipkart Samarth and Samarth Krishi, are in line with Uttar Pradesh’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy by 2027.”

Flipkart has already established a total of over 1.5 million sq. ft of Grocery Fulfillment Centers, Mother Hubs, Last Mile, and Jeeves F1 hubs in Uttar Pradesh, creating more than 700,000 jobs directly and indirectly. The company has also collaborated with the state government on various initiatives to enhance market access and growth for the MSME sector.

In addition to Flipkart Samarth and Samarth Krishi, Flipkart has supported the state’s One District One Product (ODOP) program by creating a dedicated microsite for sellers from Uttar Pradesh. This collaboration has led to over ₹1,600 crores in sales of district-specific products. Furthermore, Flipkart’s Jeeves has partnered with the UP Skill Development Mission to certify technicians under the Skill India program.

Flipkart Grocery now serves more than 1,800 cities and 10,000 PIN codes across India, and the company continues to strengthen its operations to meet growing demand. The Flipkart app is available in 12 Indian languages, with features like voice-enabled shopping, credit offerings, and open-box delivery to enhance user experience.
