A 12th standard student in Nalanda district of Bihar got cold feet when he discovered something unusual at the examination center. After thorough preparation for the math exam, 17 year-old Raja Pathak* (name changed) wasn’t aware of the surprisingly confusing situation that he was to encounter. And before he could wrap his head around the problem, he forfeited the exam.

Raja fainted in the exam hall when he found himself to be the lone boy amid 500 girls at the examination center. He was appearing for the intermediate examination at Brilliant Convent Private School, Sundergarh in Nalanda district when he fell unconscious at the sight of the staggering number of girls, who were writing the exam paper.

After Raja fainted, he was rushed to Bihar Sharif Sadar Hospital in Nalanda. “I have pain in my body, in my head and in my eyes,” said Raja, still recovering from the shock in hospital.

A student of Allama Iqbal college, Raja was allotted the exam center in Bihar sharif in Nalanda district. He was appearing for the Mathematics paper, and as he reached the exam center per schedule, he fainted right after entering the exam hall.

It was later discovered that there was a minor error in the admit card issued to Raja. Reportedly, he was termed as ‘female’ in the admit card which led him to be assigned to a girls’-exclusive exam center.

Raja’s aunt Pushpa informed that Raja got nervous after finding himself alone amid girl students. “He went to appear for the exam but soon his condition deteriorated at the sight of 500 girls around him”, she says smilingly. She added that his head started aching and soon developed fever before fainting.

A total of 13, 18, 227 students are appearing in the Inter-examination which is Bihar’s equivalent of CBSE 12th Board Exams. Out of the total students appearing for the exam, 6,36, 432 are girls and 6, 81, 795 are boys.
