Is the long arm of the law finally getting closer to fugitive pro Khalistani leader Amritpal Singh?
Amid speculations of his possible surrender at the revered Golden Temple, Amritpal Singh has issued a video message in which he urges mob mobilisation.
The chief of the Khalistani sympathiser Waris Punjab De, Amritpal Singh, also slammed the Punjab police. He said that if the police had the intention to arrest him, they could have come to his house. He also added that he would have given in.
“If the government intended to arrest me, then it would have arrested me. If the government had arrested us from home, we would have obliged. But the government tried to arrest me by encircling me with ‘lakhs of force’,” he alleged.
In his message, Amritpal Singh called ‘Sarbat Khalsa’ on the occasion of Baisakhi.
“I appeal to all the Sikh people in the country and abroad to participate in the Sarbat Khalsa program to be held on Baisakhi. For a long time, our community has been engrossed in putting up fronts on small issues. If we have to solve the issues of Punjab, then we have to be together,” Amritpal Singh said in the message.
“The way the government has cheated us has to be kept in mind. Many of my comrades have been arrested and the NSA has been imposed. Many of my comrades have been detained in Assam. That’s why I appeal to all Sikhs to assemble on the occasion of Baisakhi,” he added while talking about the arrest of his aides and their detention in an Assam jail.
Sarbat Khalsa is a meeting that is attended by various Sikh organisations to discuss issues related to the community. The jathedar of the Akal Takht directs the community to follow the solutions discussed in the meeting.
Confirming that he has not been arrested so far, Amritpal Singh said, “My arrest is in the hands of the Almighty. I am on top of the world. Nobody could do anything to me.”
It is the first-ever video statement Amritpal Singh has issued since Punjab police launched a massive crackdown against him and his organisation on March 18.
The crackdown followed a brazen display of disregard for the rule of law when Amritpal Singh and his associates stormed into Ajnala police station to free one of his aides who had been arrested in a kidnapping case.
