NEW DELHI: Idan Amedi, known for his role in the acclaimed Netflix series ‘Fauda’, has suffered severe injuries during ground operations in Gaza against the Palestinian-based Hamas militant group, according to an Israeli diplomat’s statement on Monday.

Amedi, a part of the Netflix show, joined the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) following the outbreak of conflict on October 7. Transitioning from reel to real life, he posted a video online on October 12, dressed in military gear, emphasising the difference between fiction and the reality he was now facing.

The Israeli embassy in Greece conveyed wishes for Amedi’s rapid recuperation, confirming that he sustained injuries during a conflict in Gaza’s Khan Younis.

“Wishing a prompt recovery to the talented musician, singer, and #Fauda actor Idan Amedi, who sustained severe injuries in a battle in Khan Yunis in Gaza,” Israel embassy in Greece stated on X.

‘Fauda’, derived from Arabic for chaos, draws inspiration from Israel’s counterterrorism unit. Amedi isn’t the sole figure associated with the series who responded to Israel’s call for reservists. Lior Raz, another actor from the popular TV show, also took up a frontline role, while Matan Meir, part of the crew, tragically lost his life in the conflict.

The conflict began when Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7. In response, Israel declared war against the Palestinian terror group, aiming to dismantle them following their land-sea-air assault in towns near the Gaza border. The Hamas attack resulted in over 1,400 casualties, predominantly civilians, and led to the abduction of numerous Israelis, foreigners, and dual nationals.

Meanwhile, according to Hamas, Israel’s military campaign in Gaza resulted in the deaths of at least 22,000 individuals, primarily women and children.
