EXC: Killed in Tihar, Tillu Tajpuria survived 2 attempts on life in past

Gangster Tillu Tajpuria was killed inside Tihar jail early on Tuesday morning.

New Delhi: The gang rivalry between Delhi-NCR’s notorious gangsters Jatinder Gogi and Tillu Tajpuria appears to have reached its climax as the latter was stabbed to death inside Tihar Jail on Tuesday.

He was killed with the help of “sua” and a sharp-edged iron grill uprooted from the high-security prison by four members of the group of Gogi, who was gunned down by Tillu’s men inside Rohini court premises last year.

Sources said that the planning to eliminate Tillu was being hatched for the past few months, but several attempts were thwarted.

Just two weeks back, Tillu was targeted by a group of associates of Gogi in Rohini Jail, but it was foiled when he got to know and informed jail officials. Later, he requested to be transferred from Rohini Jail to Tihar Jail, where he was kept in a high-security prison ward.

Prison officials said that rivals tried to poison Tillu’s food inside Tihar Jail last year, but it foiled the jail administration in time.

Tillu was lodged in Jail number 9 of Tihar, which is Asia’s largest jail.

The attack occurred around 6:15 am on Tuesday when four Gogi men cut open the security grill on the first floor of the high-security ward and jumped to the ground floor using bedsheets. While Tillu was asleep, he was attacked multiple times with an iron grill and improvised “sua,” leaving him critically injured.

Sources said that Tillu received over three dozen stab wounds. Another inmate named Rohit, who was also lodged in the same ward, was also injured in the attack.

Both injured inmates were immediately rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital after receiving the necessary medical attention at the Central Jail OPD at around 6:45 am. In the hospital, Tillu died during the treatment, while Rohit was recuperating.

After the incident, many social media posts were put out by gangsters, including one by the most wanted gangster based in Canada, Goldy Brar, taking responsibility for the attack inside the prison. In a Facebook post, Brar claimed that it was a “revenge” for the killing of “Bhai Jatinder Gogi”.

Brar is another associate of another jailed gangster, Lawrence Bishnoi, who was allegedly involved in the murder of Sidhu Moosewala in May last year.

Meanwhile, Goldy Brar has also been put on the list of 25 most wanted fugitives in Canada. Brar, whose original name is Satinderjit Singh Brar, is said to be based in Canada, and Indian agencies have already obtained his Interpol-Red Corner notice in 2022.
