NEW DELHI: When Mewat DSP Surinder Singh Bishnoi went for a raid at Panchgaon village in Aravalli Hills on Tuesday, he was accompanied by just three men.

Bishnoi, who was mowed down by a dumper truck of a sand mafia during the raid, was accompanied by one ASI and two constables, one gunman and one reader.

Sources from Nuh Police told The New Indian he could not anticipate that the tip-off he got was true or false. “Police teams often get such tip-offs and most of the time they turn out to be a hoax or fake,” the source said.

“Sometimes the informers also mislead the police. And that’s why Bishnoi was with just three of his officers – one include was his personal security staff,” said the source.

Varun Singla, SP, Nuh,  also confirmed the same with The New Indian.

“It happened at about 11 am when Bishnoi got the tip-off from an informer from Panchgaon about the movement of the sand mafias. As soon as he got the tip-off, he immediately took his driver, gunman and reader, to the spot where they spotted a dumper without the number plate,” Singla said.

Meanwhile, one person identified as Ikkar was arrested from the same area on Tuesday evening. The dumper was also recovered.

SP Singla told The New Indian that Ikkar has been arrested but the truck driver and a few more persons are still absconding.

“Two pistols, one kept in the dumper truck, have been recovered. Our teams are conducting a raid to nab them,” he added.
