New Delhi: Former Delhi Chief Minister Atishi has formally requested a meeting with incumbent Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) legislators on February 23, 2025. The primary focus of the discussion is the execution of a ₹2,500 monthly financial aid scheme for women, a commitment allegedly made by the Prime Minister during the election campaign.

Atishi pointed out that despite assurances, the scheme was not sanctioned in the first cabinet session of the new administration. The AAP has raised concerns over the delay, asserting that women in Delhi feel deceived, having placed their faith in the Prime Minister’s pledge.

Key Highlights from Atishi’s Letter:

In her letter, Atishi extended congratulations to CM Rekha Gupta on assuming office. She reminded her that on January 31, 2025, during a rally in Dwarka, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had assured the public that the ₹2,500 monthly scheme for women would receive cabinet approval in the first meeting if the BJP secured power. He had positioned it as “Modi’s Guarantee.”

However, the first cabinet meeting, held on February 20, did not approve the scheme, leaving the women of Delhi feeling abandoned. Atishi stressed that AAP MLAs are keen to deliberate on this matter with the Chief Minister on February 23 and urged her to schedule a discussion to address the concerns of millions of women in Delhi.

Concluding her appeal, Atishi urged CM Gupta to take definitive steps toward executing the scheme, ensuring that commitments made to the women of Delhi are honored.
