Ex-Bengal CM Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee admitted to Hospital for respiratory distress

Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C V Ananda Bose, paid a visit to Woodlands hospital and tweeted a picture of him with Bhattacharjee’s family, expressing his support and best wishes for the leader’s health.

KOLKATA: Former Chief Minister of West Bengal Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee (79) was admitted to Woodlands Hospital on Saturday due to a lower respiratory tract infection and Type 11 respiratory failure. Bhattacharjee has been put on non-invasive ventilation, antibiotics, and other supportive management. Necessary investigations have been done, and the reports are awaited. As of now, he is hemodynamically stable, as per a news bulletin released by Woodlands hospital, where he is being treated.

A multidisciplinary medical team comprising Dr. Kaushik Chakraborty (Medicine), Dr. Soutik Panda (Critical Care), Dr. Susmita Debnath (Critical Care), Dr. Saroj Mandal (Interventional Cardiology), Dr. Ankan Bandyopadhyay (Internal Medicine and Pulmonology), Dr. Dhruba Bhattacharya (Internal Medicine and Critical Care), Dr. Asis Patra (Anesthesiology), Dr. Somnath Maity, and Dr. Saptarshi Basu (Physician and Medical Superintendent, Woodlands) is closely monitoring his progress.

Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee is a prominent political figure who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 2000 to 2011. Given his stature and contributions to the state and the nation, his health condition has drawn widespread concern and attention.

Dr. Rupali Basu, Managing Director & CEO of Woodlands Hospital, and the entire medical staff have assured the public that every measure is being taken to provide the best medical attention to the former Chief Minister. As of the latest update, his condition is stable, and the medical team is working diligently to aid his recovery.

Further updates on Mr. Bhattacharjee’s condition are expected to be released by the hospital as and when necessary, given the fluidity of health situations.

In a heartfelt tweet, Suvendu Adhikari, a prominent leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in West Bengal, expressed his deep concern over the health of the Former Chief Minister of the state and wished for his speedy recovery. “Concerned about the health of the Former Chief Minister of West Bengal; Shri Buddhadeb Bhattacharya, who has been hospitalised with breathing problems. I hope & pray for his quick recovery,” he tweeted.
