NEW DELHI: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Wednesday asked the officers of the state government to ensure that the benefits provided by the government are allocated and sent to every authentic beneficiary.

Chairing a meeting with the Administrative Secretaries of all the departments, the CM said that the state government is committed to the holistic development of Punjab and the prosperity of its people. He said, “Heath, education and employment are the priority areas of the state governments and major thrust should be given to facilitate people in these.” Mann further highlighted that the ongoing works are slated to be completed within the stipulated time frame, while new schemes should be formulated for the people’s well-being.

Mann said that new welfare schemes must be conceived and executed by keeping in view the larger public interest. He highlighted that Punjab is scripting a new success story in every field and emerging as a front-ranking state in the country, while asking the officers to ensure that the budget is earmarked to their respective departments.

Mann said, “There is no dearth of funds as far as the development of state and progress of its people is concerned. Providing good governance and clean administration to the people is the top priority of the state government.” He highlighted that the basic motto of holding the meeting was to ensure the beneficiaries received the benefits of the schemes to every beneficiary at the grassroots.

While stating this, Mann warned the officers of any callousness while implementing the welfare schemes as “totally unwarranted and undesirable”. He established that a need for a foolproof mechanism was essential for the officers to keep a regular tab to ensure that the needy receive the benefits. Mann further stated that no form of nepotism would be tolerated in the implementation of the same.

The Aam Aadmi Party-led Punjab CM added that the government was committed to imparting the benefits of the schemes to carve out a ‘Rangla Punjab’. “It is the need of the hour to carve out a ‘Rangla Punjab’ where everyone can live life with dignity and pride.”

Mann directed that no officer would deny the right to social welfare to any eligible beneficiary and could not be denied at any cost.
