New Delhi: The highly anticipated PFC India vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024 is set to captivate fans as international hockey returns to New Delhi after a decade-long hiatus. Scheduled for October 23rd and 24th at the iconic Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, the series marks a historic moment for Indian hockey. The last international match played at this venue was during the Hockey World League Final in January 2014.
Both India and Germany share a fierce rivalry, and their upcoming clash promises intense competition. In their 19 encounters since 2013, India has won eight matches, while Germany has secured seven victories. As the reigning World Champions and Olympic silver medallists at Paris 2024, Germany will look to extend their dominance. However, India, eager to avenge their narrow 3-2 semi-final loss to Germany at the Paris Olympics, is determined to turn the tide.

For Indian Men’s Hockey Team Chief Coach Craig Fulton, this series holds special significance. A former South African international, Fulton made his debut at the same venue 29 years ago during the 1995 Indira Gandhi Gold Cup. Now, as the head coach of India, he reflects on the full-circle moment:
“It’s a special feeling to be back at this iconic venue where my international journey began. Returning here as the coach of the Indian national team is remarkable. Facing a top team like Germany in front of home fans adds to the significance. I’m proud and reflective, and I hope we can deliver a memorable performance.”
Captain Harmanpreet Singh, excited to play his first international match in the capital, shared similar sentiments:
“I have fond memories of the Major Dhyan Chand Stadium, having trained here as part of the junior camp in 2013. Returning to this venue feels like a special homecoming. The atmosphere and significance of this place make it even more thrilling.”
Both Fulton and Harmanpreet acknowledged the challenge posed by Germany’s tactical expertise. Fulton emphasized the need for adaptability, while Harmanpreet stressed learning from every match, regardless of the outcome.

The PFC India vs Germany Bilateral Hockey Series 2024 is expected to be an exhilarating contest, with both teams looking to make strong statements ahead of upcoming major tournaments. Fans can catch the action live on Sony Sports Network, DD Sports, and FanCode from 3:00 PM on both matchdays.
