Elvish yadav granted bail after 5 days of custody

NEW DELHI: Elvish Yadav, the popular YouTuber and winner of Bigg Boss OTT 2, has been granted bail by Surajpur court, after spending five days in custody in connection with the snake venom case. The 26-year-old content creator was arrested by the Noida Police under the Wildlife Protection Act, amidst allegations of involvement in the suspected use of snake venom as a recreational drug.

Initially sent to a 14-day judicial custody, Yadav’s bail hearing was postponed earlier but eventually granted on Thursday. The news was confirmed by fellow Bigg Boss contestant Anurag Dobhal, who expressed his faith in divine justice, stating, “Uppar waala kabhi galat nahi karega Bail Granted.”

A video capturing Yadav’s release from jail has since gone viral, depicting him waving at his supporters as he emerges from custody. His fan page shared the footage, accompanied by a message emphasizing the power of truth and parental blessings in overcoming adversity.

“The court has passed the orders, granting bail to Elvish Yadav,” remarked his lawyer, Prashant Rathi, following the judicial decision. “We stated that he is falsely accused, and no substance was recovered,” he continued, “After the proceedings are over, he might come out. Both of his friends have also got bail,” said Rathi.

In a turn of events, the Noida Police acknowledged an error in imposing the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act on Yadav, attributing it to a clerical mistake. This development came after the NDPS Act was removed, making bail under this act notoriously difficult to obtain.

Yadav’s legal proceedings continued as his bail application was heard in the court of Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Jaihind Kumar Singh. The court reserved its order, which is anticipated to be delivered post-lunch, according to Yadav’s lawyer, Advocate Prashant Rathi.

The YouTuber’s arrest stirred controversy, with accusations under multiple legal provisions including the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, the Wildlife Protection Act, and the Indian Penal Code. However, with bail granted, Yadav’s legal battle takes a new trajectory as he awaits further developments in the ongoing investigation.
