Education reformer, Rhodes Scholar’s Road to lead Delhi

NEW DELHI:  Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Atishi is set to take over as Delhi’s Chief Minister following Arvind Kejriwal’s resignation. The decision, finalized during a meeting of AAP legislators on Tuesday, marks a major leadership shift within the party.

At 43, Atishi currently oversees the Education and Public Works Department portfolios in the Delhi government and is renowned for her visionary reforms.

A Rhodes Scholar and Oxford University graduate, she has played a pivotal role in transforming Delhi’s public education system.

A leader in education reform

Atishi has been instrumental in overhauling Delhi’s government schools, improving infrastructure, teacher training, and student outcomes.

Her efforts, in collaboration with former Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, made quality education accessible to economically disadvantaged students.

Before joining AAP, Atishi worked with grassroots organizations, addressing social inequalities and community challenges.
