NEW DELHI: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday said that it has summoned Shiv Sena leader and Rajya Sabha Member Sanjay Raut for questioning on Wednesday in connection with its probe into the Patra Chawl land grab case.
An ED official said that the agency has asked Raut to appear before it on Wednesday at 11 am.
Raut had earlier skipped the ED summons on June 28. The Shiv Sena leader had sent his lawyer informing the financial probe agency that he needs more time to appear before the agency.
After the ED summons last month, Raut took to Twitter and wrote, “I just came to know that the ED has summoned me. Good! There are big political developments in Maharashtra. We, Balasaheb’s Shivsainiks are fighting a big battle. This is a conspiracy to stop me. Even if you behead me, I won’t take the Guwahati route. Arrest me! Jai Hind!”
Earlier, the ED had attached property worth Rs 9 crore related to Sanjay Raut’s ‘aide’ Pravin Raut and assets, worth around Rs 2 crore, belonging to Sanjay Raut’s wife Varsha in the Rs 1,034-crore Patra Chawl land scam case.
The financial probe agency had filed a charge sheet in a money laundering case against Pravin Raut.
