ED Cracks Down On Gold Smugglers In Chhattisgarh

RAIPUR: In a massive crackdown against international gold smugglers, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Saturday carried out searches at four locations in Chhattisgarh and seized huge amounts of cash and gold.

According to an ED source related to the probe, the agency sleuths carried out searches on the premises of a few jewellers involved in gold smuggling.

The source said that during searches, the ED recovered huge amounts of cash and gold.

The source, however, refused to share the names of the jewellers whose premises were searched by the ED.

The source said that the agency had got information about the international gold smuggling racket after which it conducted searches on the jewellers.

In the past, the ED has probed several gold smuggling racket cases in Kerala, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Delhi and Gujarat.
