Sources within the ECI told The New Indian said, “This two-day sojourn to Chhattisgarh holds significant importance as the Commission aims to engage with the state’s administrative bodies for a comprehensive review prior to the forthcoming assembly election.”

Chhattisgarh’s current assembly term spans from January 3, 2029, to January 4, 2024, encompassing a total of 90 assembly seats that will shape the future political landscape of the state.

This initiative follows a series of crucial elections across the nation. In 2023, Tripura, Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Karnataka witnessed successful assembly elections, totaling nine in number. The electoral canvas of 2023 further includes Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, and Telangana, each poised for assembly elections in the latter half of the year.

Notably, the electoral panorama in Jammu and Kashmir remains enigmatic as the union territory continues under the governance of the Lieutenant Governor’s administration.
