New Delhi: The Election Commission on Thursday revised the polling dates in Manipur after taking into consideration inputs, last precedents and several other factors.

The poll panel in a statement said that the polling in Manipur first phase will now take place on February 28 instead of February 27 and polling of the second phase will take place on March 5 instead of March 3.

The decision comes in the wake of the poll panel visit to Manipur on February 7 and 8.

It said that the panel received several inputs from the officials of the Assam Rifles, police and administration and also from the political parties, seeking revision. It was after considering those inputs, representations, past precedent, logistics, ground situations and circumstances, that the panel took a decision to shift the polling dates in Manipur.

Earlier, the poll panel had shifted the election dates in Punjab from February 14 to February 20.

Counting of votes will take place on March 10.
