Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has assured on Thursday that the construction of Dwarka Expressway, India’s first elevated urban expressway, is nearing completion and is expected to be finished within the next 3-4 months. “We are aiming to complete the entire project within six months, however efforts are being made to complete the project before its stipulated time period, most probably by June-July” said Gadkari in response to a question posed by The New Indian.
Nitin Gadkari, the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, emphasized the government’s dedication to enhancing commuting experiences by conducting an inspection of the ongoing construction work on the Dwarka Expressway today. His visit underscored the government’s commitment to improving transportation infrastructure.
As a vital component of the Delhi decongestion plan, this significant infrastructure project, with an estimated cost of Rs 10,000 crore, is being divided into four packages.
Underlining the advanced features of the expressway, Gadkari highlights that Dwarka Expressway will incorporate a fully-automated tolling system and an intelligent transportation system (ITS), aimed at enhancing efficiency and convenience.
Covering a total length of 29 km, Dwarka Expressway commences near Shiv Murti on NH-8 and concludes near Kherki Daula Toll plaza on NH-8. The expressway has been strategically designed to provide seamless connectivity between Dwarka and Indira Gandhi International Airport, offering direct access to the upcoming India International Convention Centre in sector 25 of Dwarka.
With the completion of Dwarka Expressway drawing near, the project holds great promise in alleviating traffic congestion and bolstering transportation connectivity in the region, as per Gadkari’s assurance.
