NEW DELHI: ‘Dunki’s opening day has ignited a social media storm as fans and critics alike weighed in on Shah Rukh Khan’s third film of 2023. The anticipation was palpable, and the initial reactions are nothing short of a rollercoaster ride.

Trade expert Sumit Kadel pulled no punches, labelling the first half as ‘brilliant’ and predicting an unstoppable run at the box office if the second half maintains the momentum. Similarly, an Instagram user echoed the sentiment, comparing the comedy to the likes of ‘Munna Bhai’ and ‘3 Idiots’ and confidently declaring a blockbuster in the making.

Trade expert Komal Nahta also left no room for ambiguity, declaring ‘Blockbuster written all over’ in his #DunkiReview. He praised the film as a world crafted by the magic touch of Rajkumar Hirani, with Shah Rukh Khan delivering one of his career’s standout performances. The supporting cast, including Vicky Kaushal and Taapsee Pannu, received their share of accolades.

Vicky Kaushal, who plays a special role in the movie, emerged as the undisputed highlight for many viewers. Twitter buzzed with praises for his performance, with some even suggesting he deserves awards for both lead and supporting roles in his stellar year.

However, not everyone was swept away by ‘Dunki’s charm. One X user expressed disappointment in the film, criticising the humour as unfunny and dubbing Shah Rukh Khan and Taapsee Pannu’s chemistry as lackluster. Another review labelled the movie’s execution as shoddy, with Vicky Kaushal and the supporting cast standing out in an otherwise boring plot.
