Key accused Amanat Ali was arrested on Thursday

At a time when the country is shocked by the heart-wrenching death of Ankita Sharma in Jharkhand, a similar case has come to light in the national capital.

A class 11 girl was shot near her home in Delhi’s Sangam Vihar by Amanat Ali. Ali, who was stalking the 16-year-old girl, was arrested following the arrest of two of his associates, Bobby and Pawan Kumar, by Delhi Police.

Speaking to The New Indian, the father of the girl said that Ali changed his identity and befriended his daughter. He said that Ali started to stalk his daughter after she turned down his requests to continue the friendship.

“Ali contacted my daughter by changing his identity on social media. And when she stopped talking to him, he started visiting our house,” he said.

In a serious allegation against the local police, the girl’s father said that the beat constable was informed about the matter but nothing happened.

“In July, he (Ali) made a man break our window panes. He was very desperate. We informed our beat constable then. The cop told me that he would look into it. But things never changed and led to this incident,” said the teenage victim’s father.

On August 25, the teenage victim was returning home from her school when Amanat Ali, 19; Bobby, 24, and Pawan Kumar, 19, attacked her. CCTV footage of the incident also surfaced on social media, in which the attackers were seen running away after opening fire at the girl.

Bobby and Pawan Kumar were arrested by the Delhi Police

A bullet hit the young girl in the shoulder. Doctors said that the bullet is still inside the body. They can take out the bullets only after six months.

Two of the accused, Bobby and Pawan, were arrested the next day, according to DCP (South) Benita Mary Jaiker. Two country-made pistols were also recovered from their possession. However, the main accused, Amanat, was on the run.

“Ali, who was on the run, was also arrested on Thursday in Trilokpuri. During the course of interrogation, the accused Ali disclosed that the victim girl was in contact with him through social media. She stopped talking with him some time ago due to which he was unhappy. So, he decided to eliminate the girl. He hatched a plan in connivance with his friends Bobby and Pawan,” said Jaiker.

On the day of the incident, they chased the girl while she was returning from school. When she reached B Block, Sangam Vihar, the accused, Bobby, fired a gunshot at her.

In a similar incident, Ankita Kumar, a 16-year-old class 12 student, died after being set on fire by Shahrukh Hussain. Hussain, 23, torched the young girl for not responding to his approaches.
