Mumbai: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) Mumbai Zonal Director Sameer Wankhede on Thursday got a three-day anticipatory protection from Bombay high court after Maharashtra’s MVA government set up a probe against central officer in drug seizure involving Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan.
HC disposed off his petition after Maharashtra government said they will serve 3-day notice before arrest.
Mumbai Police have formed a four member team to investigate the allegations of extortion and corruption against him after one of the witnesses led by his own agency NCB in the case turned hostile. “I believe in the principles of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Balasaheb Thackeray. Their public conduct made me understand on how to put up with any injustice being meted out by anyone while neither being unjust to others” she wrote.
“However I am fighting all by myself alone as a Marathi girl as attacks are being mounted on on my personal life from all quarters . Sadly, some people are getting a huge rise from this” she said.
Wankhede’s family incluing his sister Yasmeen and Dyandev Wankhede separately met former BJP MP Kirit Somaiya. Somaiya said they had come to express concern over slanderous attacks on family by NCP leader Nawab Malik.
“He is just an officer doing a probe. His family is disturbed by the slanderous and dirty propaganda by the minister against their family members” Somaiya said.
Earlier, NCB sources have questioned the motive by independent witness Prabhakar Sail, saying why he didn’t charge Wankhede of accepting the the offer for bribe for last 25 days and have smelt a foul play in the conspiracy.
NCB, however, has commissioned an independent probe against Wankhede but refused to take him out of the probe.
During Bombay high court proceedings, the Maharashtra government initially opposed the plea but subsequently its chief public prosecutor Aruna Pai told court that it will give prior notice of arrest to Wankhede.
HC then disposed of the plea following the state government’s statement.
Wankhede’s case before HC came on the same day when Aryan, along with Arbaaz Merchant and Munmun Dhamecha were granted bail by the HC.
