NEW DELHI: Dream of what India should look like in 25 years and work towards that dream, Union home minister Amit Shah said as he exhorted fellow Indians to make the country Vishwa Guru in 2047.

“If we all start dreaming what India should look like in the field of education, art, security…and work towards it for the next twenty-five years, Bharat Mata will occupy the position of Vishwa Guru,” Shah said while inaugurating the Tiranga Utsav programme in Delhi.

Paying rich tributes to freedom fighter Pingali Venkayya, who had designed the flag which evolved into tiranga, Shah said that he gave the country a big symbol of unification and aspiration.

The family of Pingali Venkayya was also felicitated at the event and a commemorative postal stamp was launched. The Home minister also released the Har Ghar Tiranga theme song.

Shah appealed to all the people to change their social media profiles to the Indian tricolour and also requested everyone to hoist the tricolour from August 13-15 to make the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign a grand success.

The minister said that lakhs of people sacrificed their lives to help us attain independence and many of them remain anonymous. “This Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav is time to pay tributes to all those who sacrificed their lives for freedom,” Shah said.

Recounting the achievements of Independent India, Shah said, “The country has achieved a lot in various fields in the last 75 years and this celebration is a way to make the world aware of our achievements.”

He exhorted everyone to think about the India of their dreams and what should India look like when it celebrates 100 years of its Independence.

“We all must think about what India should look like in the field of telecommunication, art, security…and work with dedication for the next 25 years. Bharat Mata will occupy the position of Vishwa Guru,” Shah said.

The Union government has planned year-round events to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

Talking about the achievements of the last eight years of PM Narendra Modi’s government, Shah said, “Today the whole world looks up to India with respect.”
